I had just gotten done talking to another member about computer overheating, I'll copy and paste it onto here as a minor tip/walk through.

The number one rule of thumb, is that a computer is like a person. Whenever it's temperature rises past a certain degree it goes to sleep. To protect this you can download a program (as mentioned by KB) to check the temperatures your computer is at.

To many programs running can be the number 1 cause of your computer to overheat, or slow down. Be sure to remove any programs that provide backdoors into your computer to 'protect' it from spyware/malware. Such as Norton Anti-Virus, also known as the "Ghost AVG"

To remove Norton anti-virus, you will need to download the Norton Anti-Virus removal tool located here:
ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/englis...moval_Tool.exe

Also, if you want to remove more slack from the computer; you may restore the Windows Firewall settings to default by doing this:

START > type FirewallSettings.exe into the start search box > click on FirewallSettings.exe > select the Advanced Tab > click on "Restore Defaults" > Click Apply, then hit OK

============

Be sure to run disk defragmentor, along with Disk Clean-Up prior to clearing any temporary files on your computer.

There is also temporary folders placed throughout your computer's harddrive that you can clear out. Here are some areas:

(Be sure to restart your computer without running any programs at all before deleting items)

Items that are being used by windows cannot be modified, changed, or tampered with while a user is logged into windows. To mess with that you would have to enter into "Safe Mode" through BIOS.

C:\Users\admin "name of user"\Downloads
C:\Users\admin "name of user"\temp
C:\Users\admin "name of user"\AppData\Local\Temp
C:\Windows\Temp
